Making Safety Fun!

At INGENIUM, keeping our employees, families and clients safe is our number one priority. We begin our meetings with a safety share to reiterate the importance of being aware and diligent about making sure our surroundings and the people in them are safe.

Sometimes, however, safety reminders can get mundane and overlooked. That’s why it’s sometimes important to put some FUN back into the safety reminders. Since FUN is one of our core values, funny safety slogans can often be more impactful in serving a safety reminder. They are more noticed than boring and straightforward safety reminders and the reason is simple…people react more and are known to be more receptive to humor than serious messages.

Another advantage of using humor is that it lightens the mood and does not necessarily leave people with a bad feeling. You want to create realization, but not to a point where you make people feel bad or guilty. The purpose of a funny safety slogan should always be around instilling responsibility through a light-hearted message. It shouldn’t come across as a harsh rule. In fact, it should spark realization that leads to ownership of the rule.

Here are some humorous safety slogans that you can use in your own office or home to get employees and family members thinking about safety:

  1. Falling objects can be brutal, so wear your hard hat to protect your noodle.
  2. A spill or a slip could mean a hospital trip.
  3. Working in a safe way means you will live to see another day.
  4. If you mess up, don’t hesitate to fess up.
  5. Take a shortcut and you may be cutting your life short.
  6. If you don’t want to bet your life, don’t gamble with safety.
  7. If you are in favor of safety glasses, say “EYE”!
  8. It’s better arrive late in this world than early in the next.
  9. Don’t be afraid to ask a dumb question. It’s a lot easier to deal with than a dumb mistake.
  10. If you don’t want your wife to spend your 401(k), don’t get hurt on the job today.
  11. Remember…safety is NOT an accident.
  12. Remember to work safe today. Heaven can wait.
  13. Your first mistake can also be your last.
  14. Remember your safety ABC’s…Always Be Careful.
