Healthy Tips for 2022 – New Year, New You!

Why not start the new year off right by improving your overall health and wellness with these practical tips from the World Health Organization.

  1. Eat a healthy diet with foods from different food groups including fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts and whole grains.
  2. Consume less salt and sugar. Reduce your salt intake to five grams per day (about 1 tsp.) and reduce sugar intake to 50 grams (12 tsps.)
  3. Reduce your intake of harmful fats. Focus on good fats like fish, avocado, nuts, coconut oil, cream and cheese. Limit trans (bad) fats found in baked and fried foods, prepackaged snacks and food and cooking oils and spreads.
  4. Avoid drinking too much alcohol.
  5. Don’t smoke, or if you smoke, quit smoking.
  6. Be active. Get plenty of exercise and sunshine every week.
  7. Check and monitor your blood pressure regularly. High blood pressure can lead to many serious diseases.
  8. Wear a mask if you have symptoms of Covid or other infections to avoid spreading to others.
  9. Wash your hands properly and often.
  10. Wear bug repellent outdoors to protect yourself from mosquitos or other insects that can cause harmful diseases.
  11. Lock up all prescription medications and dispose of any expired or unused medications promptly. Do not take someone else’s medication to treat an illness or symptoms you may have.
  12. Talk to someone if you are feeling depressed or down. There are many resources available.
  13. Last, but not least…get regular checkups, including preventative health screenings such as mammograms, prostate screenings, skin cancer screenings, bone density scans and colonoscopies. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

The HAZARD HEROES at INGENIUM wish you a very Happy New Year. Stay safe and healthy.
