Get Ready for e-Manifest

Get Ready for e-Manifest: When to Register and Why Now is the Best Time!

If your business handles hazardous waste, you’re already a pro at balancing details, deadlines, and (of course) paperwork! However, with the EPA’s Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) e-Manifest system, it’s time to swap out those stacks of forms for a streamlined digital system. Here’s your step-by-step guide to registering your business and on the right track—with plenty of time to spare!

What is RCRAInfo e-Manifest Anyway?

Imagine a world where you could digitally track hazardous waste shipments, easily access data, and wave goodbye to lost paperwork! That’s where the e-Manifest system comes in. Created by the EPA, the RCRAInfo e-Manifest simplifies compliance, giving hazardous waste generators, transporters, and facilities a secure, online way to manage and monitor their shipments.

Mandatory e-Manifest Access for Generators – January 2025

Here’s a critical update: As of January 2025, all small and large quantity hazardous waste generators must be registered in e-Manifest to receive their final signed copies. That’s right—paper copies are officially a thing of the past! Note: if you are a very small quantity generator of hazardous waste – this doesn’t apply to you yet. For a primer on LQG, SQG, and VSQG – see this link EPA’s guide on generator categories.

By registering, generators get fast, direct access to digital manifests, which makes recordkeeping easier, more organized, and always accessible. Plus, you’ll always have the latest version of your documents at your fingertips. No more shuffling through piles of paper—just simple, efficient, and secure access when you need it.

Why Register Now?

Registration isn’t just a box to check—it’s a chance to get comfortable with the system, bring your team on board, and make sure all the steps are in place for a smooth transition. Here’s why starting now is a winning move:

  1. Get ahead of the Curve: RCRAInfo registration takes time, especially if your business has multiple people handling different parts of hazardous waste shipments. Give yourself a generous head start to avoid the last-minute scramble. Plus, you’ll have time to resolve any tech hiccups or questions along the way.
  2. Secure Your Spot: Like any major rollout, demand for support or approvals can increase as deadlines near. Registering early means less competition for resources, faster setup, and more time to get things right.
  3. Train Up, Stress-Free: When it’s time to go live with e-Manifests, you’ll want everyone on the same page. Early registration means your team can go through training at a comfortable pace and get familiar with everything before it’s go-time.
  4. Test Drive the System: What’s better than confidence? Getting hands-on time with e-Manifest! Early adopters can use their accounts to test the system, try out features, and ensure everyone’s ready to roll.
