June 30th is just around the corner…

As the hazardous waste industry prepares for the upcoming e-Manifest change to come into effect on June 30, 2018, we want to do our part to keep you In the know. Here’s the latest on e-Manifest…

What is e-Manifest? e-Manifest is a national system managed by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for tracking hazardous waste shipments electronically. The goal of e-Manifest is to modernize the nation’s cradle-to-grave hazardous waste tracking process.

When does e-Manifest go into effect? e-Manifest launches nationwide on June 30, 2018, regardless if a State or Territory has adopted the e-Manifest rules themselves.

Will anything be different for me (the generator) come June 30, 2018? One change that will affect you directly is how the paper manifests will look in accordance with §262.21. INGENIUM will be phasing-in the use of 5-part manifests to replace the existing 6-part manifests. The key differences between the forms largely affect the receiving facilities (see chart below.)

Will I still receive my final manifest copies? Yes, you will continue to receive final manifest copies through our customer portal, INSIGHT. Additionally, you may sign up for an e-Manifest account to receive email notifications when a final manifest copy is uploaded into the e-Manifest system.

Do I need to create an e-Manifest account? While it is not required, it is strongly recommended and free of charge to register. If you would like an additional resource to access your final signed manifests, or if you need to submit post-receipt corrections, then please do create an account with e-Manifest.

Please note that you will want to wait to create an account in the live, e-Manifest environment on or after June 30, 2018. Accounts created before then will be made in a pre-production, test environment (i.e. completely separate database.) For more information on how to register, please visit the e-Manifest FAQ (https://www.epa.gov/e-manifest/frequent-questions-about-e-manifest#user).

Do I have to send or mail anything to e-Manifest? e-Manifest does allow for States to continue to collect Generator and/or Transporter copies of paper manifests. However, State regulatory agencies have not yet published their revised policies in regard to e-Manifest. INGENIUM actively works with Federal and local regulatory agencies to ensure that INGENIUM and our customers remain in compliance with updated regulations. As soon as we know your state’s requirements, we will work with you to ensure a smooth transition.

As our valued customer, you will continue to receive more e-Manifest details as they unfold. If you have any specific questions, please contact your INGENIUM Representative.
