Are you OSHA Compliant?
Every year OSHA releases its Top 10 Violations List for the fiscal year. It’s usually a case of same ol’ same ol’ and the list typically contains the same regulatory violations. A good take away here is to look at your operations to make sure you are in good shape when it comes to these top ten common citations:
- Fall Protection – General Requirements
- Hazard Communication
- Scaffolding
- Lockout/Tagout
- Respiratory Protection
- Ladders
- Powered Industrial Trucks
- Fall Protection
- Machine Guarding
- Personal Protective and Lifesaving Equipment
For your Ladders – Are your employees inspecting them prior to use, and have they received training?
For the Hazard Communication standard – Are all your hazardous materials properly labeled, and are your SDS files up to date? If you have respirators lying around, make sure you have a written plan, training, medical clearances, and fit testing as appropriate. Even if the respirators are voluntary and not required, you may trigger these requirements depending on the type of respirator.
If you operate forklifts (including motorized pallet jacks), make sure your operators are properly trained and certified initially, and provide periodic refresher training.
